Celebrity Science

Celebrity Science is a broadcast aimed to communicate scientific knowledge to the general public, in a creative and inspiring manner, using YouTube, a popular platform, especially for young people.

“We came up with the recipe for Celebrity Science, by mixing four main ingredients: a digital channel, a cup of pure scientific knowledge, a tablespoon of comedy, and a large splash of celebrity spark”.

The project kicked off at the Athens Science Festival in 2018 and is now a steady stream on the homonymous YouTube channel. Theo, who came up with the idea for this show, is also the one who hosts it. Director and content creator is Yannis Sarakatsanis, while a team of science consultants supports the project.

In this broadcast, celebrities learn about science, through a fun discussion with accomplished scientists. Each episode lasts about 15 minutes and focuses on a different scientific field, such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, genetics, astrophysics and cognitive neuroscience.

The host invites the celebrity to play games and quizzes inspired by a specific scientific field, facing a scientist who transmits his specialised knowledge to the audience plainly and playfully.
